Hacı Nuri Çomu
Founding President of Sunar Grup Companies
Hacı Nuri Çomu, the son of a reliable, hardworking national and religious draper, was born in 1935 in Osmaniye and is originally from Malatya Darende. He completed primary and secondary school in Osmaniye. After graduating from Adana Erkek High School, he graduated from Ankara University as an agricultural engineer. Immediately after graduating from school, he started to deal with agriculture intensively. He was engaged in the cultivation of both garden and field crops. Later, he worked as a manager at the Akdeniz Yarn Factory alongside his father-in-law Mehmet Nuri Sabuncu.
With the role model Hacı Nuri Çomu received from his father and father-in-law, he started the venture to lay the foundations of the Sunar Group of Companies. He first established the Sunar Ginning and Paddy factory in 1974. Later, he made investments in flour, feed, starch and oil industries and served as a farmer, investor, industrialist and manager for more than half a century for the development of agriculture-based industry in our region. He is married and has 4 children.
Nuri Çomu, who is a charitable person, has made significant contributions to the construction of Adana and Osmaniye; it was deemed worthy of the TBMM Outstanding Service Award due to mosques, schools, bridges, hospitals and student scholarships and received this award with the presentation of our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Hüseyin Nuri Çomu
Honorary Chairman of Sunar Grup Companies
He was born in Darende in 1965. Honoray Chairman of Sunar Grup Companies, Hüseyin Nuri Çomu completed his high bachelor degree in Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration at Boğaziçi University. After completing his education he returned to Adana, Çomu has successfully continued his studies in industry, commerce and farming, led by his father’s grandfather and led by his father, for over 30 years.
Despite of intense work schedule, he served as manager positions for Turkey’s leading NGO’s like MÜSİAD (Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association), BYSD (Vegetable Oil Industry Association), YABİTED (Vegetable Oil Science and Technology Association), AKİB (Mediterranean Exporters’ Association), OAİB (Central Anatolian Exporters Association), ENVER (Energy Efficiency Association), NÜD (Starch and Glucose Manufacturers’ Association).
He also served as Council President of ADASO (Adana Chamber of Industry) between 2013-2016.
He is currently serving as the Chairman of GÜNYAĞDER (The Southern and Southeastern Anatolian Vegetable Oil Manufacturers’ Association) and as the Chairman of Adana branch of the İYC (Science Spread Society).
Mr. Çomu has advanced level of English, he is married and has three children.
Mustafa Nuri Çomu
Chairman of Sunar Grup Companies
Mustafa Nuri Çomu, one of the third-generation representatives of the Sunar Group Companies, was born in 1995 in Istanbul. Çomu, who completed his undergraduate education in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bogaziçi University, gained experience in the sector with his education in international organizations such as Chicago CBOT (Chicago Board of Trade) and Commodity Stock Exchanges during his education at Harward University. After serving as brand management, information systems, supply chain, corporate management and management project consultant in international companies, Çomu started to work as Strategy and Business Development Director and Board Member in Sunar Group Companies in 2019 and has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board in 2020 for the Group Companies. In addition to participate in the Nuri Çomu Foundation Board of Trustees, he is a member of the Young MUSIAD (Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association), BUMED (Bogaziçi University Alumni Association), GÜNYAGDER (The Southern and Southeastern Anatolian Vegetable Oil Manufacturers’ Association) and IYC (Science Spread Society); and actively takes part in social life with hobbies and activities such as piano, tennis, snowboard and winter sports. Mustafa Nuri Çomu has advanced level of English.
Hasan Abdullah Özkan
CEO of Sunar Grup Companies
Born in Adana in 1988, Sunar Grup CEO Hasan Abdullah Özkan completed Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Maryland University. Having served at managerial positions of global companies, Özkan was appointed CEO of Sunar Grup of Companies (Elita Gıda, Sunar Mısır, Sunar Pazarlama, Sunar Özlem) in 2017.
Despite of intense schedule, Hasan A. Özkan is a member of FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations), BYSD (Vegetable Oil Manufacturers’ Association), MÜSİAD (Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association) ADASO (Adana Chamber of Industry) Committee of Food Industry Professionals, BCSD Turkey (Business World and Sustainable Development Association), The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Young Entrepreneurs Club, and
Besides, He is the vice president OF GUNYAGDER (Association of South and Southeastern Oil Manufacturers’ Association), member of the board of NISAD (Association of Starch Producers’), and member of the advisory board of GIFT (Food, Beverage and Agriculture Policies Research Institution).
Mr. Özkan has advanced level of English, he is married and has two children.
He was born in Darende in 1963. After his graduation from Adana Male High School,he completed his academic education in Department of Chemistry at İnönü University. Mr. Erdoğan entered the sector in 1993, after a 7 year experience in a private company, he started the sales department in Sunar Mısır in 2001. For nearly 16 years, he has served in Sunar Grup at various positions throughout his carreer to the Deputy General Manager.
He has membership for the most important non-governmental organizations in the sector. He is a member of the Board of Directors of NÜD (Starch and Glucose Manufacturers’ Association), member of the Board of GÜNYAĞDER (The Southern and Southeastern Anatolian Vegetable Oil Manufacturers’ Association) and in various positions at BYSD (Vegetable Oil Industry Association) and ŞEMAD (Sugar Products Manufacturers’ Association).
He takes the principle of working with the aim of unconditional customer satisfaction. He has a lot of experience in production, sales and quality control of the food industry (margarine, vegetable oil and confectionery etc.). Mr. Erdoğan is married and he has two children.
